The Museum of Cinema is housed in a building dating from the late nineteenth century, known as the Casa de les Aigües, because it formerly contained the head offices of the city's water company. This building stands between Carrer del Perill, Carrer de la Sèquia and Plaça de Santa Susanna del Mercadal, a central location halfway between one of the city's most important shopping and tourist areas (Carrer de Santa Clara and Rambla de la Llibertat) and a large open space very popular with the people of Girona, Plaça de la Constitució.

The building has nearly 2,500m2 of usable surface area, distributed on three floors and a mezzanine. Two lifts make getting around the building easy and eliminate architectural barriers for people with reduced mobility.
